Cedrywdd is Welsh for "cedar". Cedrus libani is an evergreen growing up to 130 ft tall, with a trunk up to 8 ft 2 in diameter. The Cedar of Lebanon was important to the ancient civilizations of the region. The Phoenicians used the trees for building their ships as well as their houses, palaces and temples. The ancient Egyptians used the cedar's resin in mummification and its sawdust could be found in the tombs of Egyptian Pharaohs. The cedar groves of Lebanon were praised as the dwelling of the gods in the Sumeric Epic of Gilgamesh. In North America the cedar tree can also be found in many works of Native American poetry. Different types of cedars can be found all over the world and for each culture they seem to represent something special. Having seen cedar trees grow on rocks in Southern California and keeping each other alive by connecting with one another's roots, we feel that the cedar tree is also a symbol of how filmmaking as a craft should work: collaboratively.

Cedrywdd is das walische Wort für die Zeder. Die libanesischen Zedern können über 40m groß werden und ein Durchmesser von über 2,5m erreichen. Ihr Holz wurde an alle alten Zivilisationen der Region exportiert. Die Phönizier haben aus den Bäumen ihre Schiffe, ihre Häuser, ihre Tempel und sogar Paläste gebaut. Die alten Ägypter benutzten das Harz für die Mummifizierung und ihre Späne waren in den Gräbern der Pharaohnen zu finden. Laut dem sumerischen Epos von Gilgamesh wurden die Zedernwälder des Libanon als die Heimat der Götter verehrt. Auch in der Dichtung der nordamerikanischen Ureinwohner findet die Zeder eine große Bedeutung. Verschiedene Arten dieses Baumes künnen in allen Regionen der Welt gefunden werden und überall scheint er eine besondere Bedeutung zu haben. Und seit wir in Kalifornien Zedern gesehen haben, die sich gegenseitig am Leben erhalten, indem sie sich miteinander verwurzelten, sind wir der Überzeugung, dass die Zeder die Filmemacherei als Handwerk repräsentiert, das nur auf eine Art und Weise Früchte trägt: wenn man zusammenarbeitet.
